Judges

Have you ever considered training to be a Nafas Area Judge? This can be a very rewarding experience. You will be invited to Flower Shows, can view new and innovative designs plus meeting like minded exhibitors.

Ideally you should be, or have been, a keen competitor yourself, but if you have a good eye for design, good general knowledge regarding floral design and good horticultural knowledge, you are sure to find this interesting.

An Area Judge will arrive at a show having read the show schedule, view all the classes, and then decide which order to judge in. Next you should weigh up the criteria – does the design have artistic merit, does it intemperate the class title, is the plant material in good condition and are all the components well presented. When the awards have been decided upon you will most likely be expected to write comments on each exhibit – these should be helpful to the competitor and always tactful.
